## surf: 浏览；网上冲浪 ##

to look at information on the Internet

Kim has been surfing the Internet for the past two hours.

## download: 下载 ##

to copy files or information using the Internet

Gary downloaded ten new songs onto his computer from the Internet.

Can you download this software for free on Microsoft’s website?

## search engine: （计算机）搜索引擎 ##

a computer program which finds information online

I would say that Google is the most popular search engine.

There are many search engines that are competing with one another.

## a thing or two: 值得知道的事情；可知一二之事 ##

some matters, facts, or information

Hannah knows a thing or two about computers.

most popular or most commonly chosen for a particular purpose

## under the sun: 在世界上 ##

all things that exist or are possible

There are so many odd things happening every day under the sun.  
在世界上，每天都有许多奇奇怪怪的事情发生。

Jim is really smart — he knows just about everything under the sun.  
Jim是个绝顶聪明的人，他上知天文，下知地理。

# Grammar #

## kinds of ‘free’ ##

1.  最常见的表达就是 “主语+ be free” 这种句型。例如，  
    Admission is free for children under 9.
2.  如果要表达 “免费做某事，义务做某事”，可在发出动作后加 for free 做状语。例如，  
    Is downloading videos from Youtube for free?
3.  类似的表达法还有 free of charge, 这里charge是名词，作 “费用” 讲。例如，  
    All these services are available to the public free of charge.
4.  还有一种较为口语化的表达，即 for nothing，也可以表示免费。例如，  
    File-sharing has made all music available for nothing.

*  The special gift with this month’s magazine is free.
 *  You can’t expect people to work for free (= without payment).
 *  We will send you our booklet free of charge.
 *  Google’s services have famously been built on the principle of offering something for nothing.
